Dear Deer

October 4, 2010

This dress is one of my favorites for a number of reasons. One is that I love deer, and they are prominently featured in the pattern. One of these days I should photograph my deer collection. The other is that I met a very good friend while wearing it. We only knew each other slightly online, but she had just moved to San Francisco and was trying to meet people. You know how with some people, you can’t think of anything to say, but with others, you have a million things to talk about? We instantly hit it off. At the time we lived just a few blocks away from one another, though she moved down to Southern California last year and just recently moved up to Seattle. She wrote a really lovely piece on leaving California, which you can read here. Anyway, every time I wear this dress I think of meeting her.

Gorgeous combination of colours Rachel. I like that you kept a little white and spring-like colours in the shirt and skirt to keep it looking traditional.
