DIY Style

October 24, 2010

If there’s one thing I love, it’s DIY fashion. There’s something so intoxicating and addicting about seeing an article of clothing or an accessory that you covet and then re-creating it with your own two hands. Once you start, you begin to see DIY possibilities everywhere. Especially if you’re on a budget, making your own interpretation of runway trends with thrift store materials is super satisfying. Plus, you can be sure that no one else will have the exact same item that you do.

I’m always excited when I find new blogs that feature fashion-forward, wearable craft projects. Here are four I like lately, coming to you live from at least three different countries . Do you have any others to recommend?

A Pair and A Spare
Geneva’s blog features plenty of ideas for DIY-able fashion, links to tutorials around the web, and instructions of her own for projects like turning a long skirt into a mini, or creating a leather collar.

OutsaPop Trashion

This is the place to come for DIY inspiration culled from magazines and websites all over the world. Outi brings you photos of punky trends from spiked shoes, to suspenders, to body chains.

Lots of fashion-forward DIY projects, many with instructions, plus many inspirational photos. I especially like the Friendship Necklace.

Chic Steals
Carly features tons of DIY projects, giveaways, and outfits, many influenced by her love of Japanese style.
